Who is Jesus

I know you’ve heard of the name of Jesus. So, who is Jesus? He is the son of God! Yes, God has a son. Jesus is called the Messiah. A messiah is a leader or savior of a particular group or cause. Sin put a barrier between God and mankind. A holy God, perfect in every way cannot have a relationship with evil. Think of it this way, God is light (white) Evil is darkness (black). You cannot mix them. The tiniest drop of black will contaminate the white. God would no longer be perfect, if there is a drop of evil is in his present. God cannot tolerate sin.

To remove the barrier between humankind and God, a sacrifice is needed to put us back in right relationship with God. Jesus is that sacrifice. God requires a blood sacrifice. In the Old Testament, animals were used as the blood sacrifices. The animal sacrifice did not suffice for a lasting covenant with God.

God set up an elaborate schedule of sacrifices throughout the year to maintain a relationship with mankind. Why did God make it so hard and elaborate for people follow? He wanted to teach people they cannot make it to God by following rules, being good enough, or doing enough. There were 613 laws to follow. The Pharisee and Sadducees were the religious people of the day. They studied and worked very hard to follow every rule. What chance did the ordinary people have at following all those rules. No one could follow them all.

Mankind needed a savior and still does. God knew we could never be good enough on our own, so they (the trinity) decided to send Jesus as the Messiah. Due to the culture in those days, Jesus was sent for the Jewish people. It was predicted by the prophets in the Old Testament that the Messiah would come and save the people for the rulers of those days. So, people were looking for him. Jesus was always meant to be the savior of humanity, not just the Jewish people. Jesus makes the perfect sacrifice because he never sinned. Jesus is perfect! When Jesus died, his blood was the perfect sacrifice to open the way to God for all people in every generation. God now sees his children, those who accepted Jesus as a free gift of salvation God sees us through the filter of Jesus’ sacrifice. The reason the gift is free is because there is nothing, we can do to errand it or pay for it. All you have to do is believe Jesus is the son of God, he died for your sins, and follow him.
